One of the most promising tools to enable small teams to tackle big projects is additive manufacturing, in all its many forms. It seems like every month there is another company announcing some new innovation in this technology space. Many teams already use additive manufacturing for prototyping their ideas, but the wide spread adoption of the tech for production of salable goods does not yet appear to have hit its watershed moment. What do you see as the obstacles standing in the way of wider adoption of additive manufacturing for medical device production vs prototyping alone?
I love tools that make my life easier, and I don’t know what I don’t know… What tools do you recommend that every medical device professional should be aware of? I’m thinking of things for file management and control, electronic signatures, or tools for accessing regulations… Do any top software tools come to mind?
Often times early stage companies that have yet to establish a quality system are working with a contract manufacturing organization (CMO) that has a QMS. It can be a benefit to these early stage innovators that may have limited quality experience on their team to rely on the QMS of their CMO. What are the benefits and disadvantages of relying on the QMS of an eternal partner? Is there a good balance for how much to outsource versus establish in house?
Hi There. I am an Associate Professor at Oklahoma State university with some questions relating to developing medical devices.1) Medical Insurance: We are interested in learning the procedure/steps needed for insurance company to cover new technology or new procedures. What are the requirements.2) ENT: We are interested in learning how ENT will adopt new technology. We also interested in learning about diseases related to the middle ear that are in need of new procedures.3) Pharma companies: We are interested in finding whether they have a need for drug delivery devices to the middle ear.If you can let me interview you (15 min max) it would be really appreciated.
